Windows 7, ISA 2006 “No internet access”

When you are on a Windows domain, with ISA 2004 or ISA 2006 policing the internet access, there are high chances that you get a silly windows network error message stating “No internet access” or “Additional logon information may be required” (paraody! You have internet access, only Windows 7 connection manager assumes you don’t!!!).
After trying numerous methods, the latest working solution (confirmed) for us is using the ISA 2004/ISA 2006 internal IP address as the default gateway for Windows 7 clients!
Though we don’t have any technical explanations to provide, we believe by diverting the traffic towards ISA somehow deals the NTLM authentication properly and the dreaded error messages being dealt in proper manner.

Awesome, this fix works by putting the Default Gateway to the ISA internal i.p.

Windows 7 and the Microsoft Firewall Client No Internet bug is gone!

Not sure why there is a comment above pointing to a Media Center KB article, that doesn’t fix this bug.

Well, we started testing Windows 7 from the time of RC and the above comment about the KB article could be ignored. Microsoft has removed this update almost 6+ months back.

Glad to hear that your No internet message is gone now. However, please make sure your ISA server has all the required routes manaully (permanent) configured for the local network(s)

      Regards
